Resonance as a design principle
What does resonance mean in an architectural and social context? The 2025 Yearbook addresses this question from a variety of perspectives. At its heart is an interview with sociologist and resonance researcher Hartmut Rosa, who explains how genuine connections between people and their environment can be created. Placemaker Ardi Goldman talks about emotional places and the power of urban environments. And the example of the Kunstgebäude Stuttgart shows how architecture can create spaces of resonance for culture. The yearbook is intended as an invitation to dialogue – about design, responsibility and new approaches to the built environment.
The thematic discussion is complemented by project highlights of various typologies. They show how resonance is interpreted and implemented in a variety of ways – from working environments to educational buildings to neighbourhood developments. This creates a multifaceted picture of what architecture can achieve at its best: facilitating encounters, creating identity and having an impact.
