Redesign and expansion of the women's premium department — Marktplatz 2, 64283 Darmstadt, Germany — 1,000 m² — September 2023 — Henschel Darmstadt GmbH

Modern Upgrade

The traditional fashion house Henschel has been relying on the expertise of blocher partners since 2011, including for the modernisation of the flagship store in Darmstadt, the current logo and corporate design. The two companies have once again worked hand in hand to modernise the premium women's department. Another consistent step by the third-generation fashion and lifestyle company to fulfil the high quality standards of its product range and service.

In order to emphasise the spaciousness of the previously closed floor, the planners not only opened up the previously closed window fronts, but also the ceiling. This brings natural daylight into the rooms, making them appear brighter and more inviting. The overall design favours a friendly and modern look - right down to the technology and lighting. Herringbone parquet flooring and a central area in natural terrazzo with shells structure the space, while small eye-catchers, trendy furniture and strong colour accents run through the entire department, giving it a fresh and bold character.

Sustainable materials

Sustainability was a particular focus for both the client and the interior designers when selecting the materials, such as the environmentally friendly wallpaper made from real rose petals in the central cabin blocks on the centre floor. Filigree furniture in white and a stainless steel look emphasises the modern look, as does the special wall made of colourful, iridescent glass. The furniture surfaces are made of recycled plastic. Seating also enhances the quality of stay in the cubicle area and allows for short breaks during an exciting day of shopping. Shop-in-shop areas have been skilfully integrated into the design and give premium brands such as Marc Cain, Luisa Cerano and Rich&Royal the space they need.
