Redesign and new conception to a fashion department store, expansion of the retail floor space — Sackstraße 7-13, 8020 Graz, Austria — 40,000 m² — October 2010 — Kastner & Öhler Warenhaus AG

Attractive lines of sight

The contemporary is remarkably compatible with reminders of the time-honored Belle Epoque in the new building. The atria were restored with many loving details such as gold stucco and enhanced with two sets of escalators reaching all six floors. Ample daylight floods the interior through the striking glass roof. Since 2010, blocher partners has been collaborating with Kastner & Öhler Warenhaus AG, amongst others: Kastner & Öhler Infected Linz.

Attractive lines of sight throughout the building now greatly expanded in both height and breadth and combining the who’s who of the international fashion scene under one roof, provide a fascinating experience. The total area was expanded to 40,000 m², the fashion area was doubled. Bigger space for the new 500 brands from all areas – casual, sports, young fashion, trend or premium. The offer from Armani to Zegna represents the Who-is-Who of the fashion scene. The change is tangible all around – from the well-assorted perfumery and cosmetics department to the Infected with its young fashion to the generous areas for women, men and children – crowned by a sensational 360° view including a skywalk over the rooftops of Graz.
