Historical substance complemented with modern design elements
The Palace Hotel in Luzern is a 5 stars Grand Hotel designed in the style of the Belle Époque and can combine luxury with its historically grown context with the Swiss hospitality. The design of blocher partners aims for the revitalization and new design of the entrance area, lobby, bar, suites and standard rooms.
In this project, the historical building substance of the Grand Hotel is showed in a respectful and effective manner. In the entrance area, white marble floor, a bright wood panelling and a modern stucco ceiling with lighting scenarios create an elegant and exclusive welcoming atmosphere for guests. This atmosphere continues in the reception which is placed in front of a red marble wall. Gentle ambient light flows over bright curtains and elegant seating furniture awaits the visitors.
The Grand Hotel lobby provides the charming atmosphere of Belle Époque: Red marble pillars, carefully renovated floor and ceiling elements, as well as various seating possibilities made of high-class furniture radiate luxury. A modern interpretation of the 1906 historical lustre outshines the scenery and decorative floor lamps provide structure and orientation for the hotel guests. The bar area also manages to combine historical heritage with contemporary luxury. Dark wall and furniture colours, in combination with the fireplace, provide a feeling of intimacy, whereas the bar with its vertically arranged slender metal struts functions as an opulent and golden contrast.
