A jewel in the old town
The townhall of Heidelberg in the historic old town was constructed at the beginning of the 18th century in baroque style and has been subsequently enlarged ever since. Considering the energy-oriented refurbishment of the facades, the architects worked carefully while alway maintaining close contact with the monument protection authority. They created a facade that reflects the original detail-oriented design and at the same time corresponds to modern structural demands.
Through the use of materials, colouring and finely nuanced plasticity the surfaces were put in order. The newly extended and dammed base made of local sandstone from the Neckar Valley marks the base storeys. The townhall thus shines in new splendor and a new jewel is added to the historical town of Heidelberg.
