Planning of a residential quarter after 1st place in competition — Löwenstraße, 70597 Stuttgart, Germany — Wohnbau-Studio Planungsgesellschaft mbH & Co. Bauträger KG
Proximity to nature and urban lifestyle
Residential ensemble: Surrounded by what is partly an old village structure Alt-Degerloch is characterized by an idyllic charm. This special aspect strongly informed the architects’ design proposal, which was the winning submission to the competition »Wohnbau Löwenstrasse«.
Adjoining the publicly used Löwenstrasse in the north and with its private gardens and communally used areas inside the plot, the site unites something that Degerloch symbolizes possibly more than any another other district of Stuttgart: proximity to nature and an urban lifestyle. The new building with some 22 residential units stands out for the design of its façade: the frontage facing the garden is rather playful, whereas it is more urban on the side facing the street. Occasional wooden elements on the ground floor convey a sense of pragmatism.
