Design of an office complex, as a competition entry — Baufeld 1, Mannheim, Germany — 37,000 m²
Planned for dual use
The office complex design for Mannheim’s Glückstein-Quartier aims at dual use: A planned company headquarters is to be supplemented by co-working spaces.
The architects added a construction block to the block perimeter development, dividing the inner courtyard in two spaces that can be used separately. This results in short connecting paths and allows a more flexible, sustainable use of the building. Different levels and terraces in the outdoor area ensure a high quality of stay. The office complex entrance areas are clearly indicated, thanks to two-storey recesses.
